The insulated glass is composed of two layers of single glass with a 9mm or 12mm air gap in the middle. Due to the special structure of this glass, most consumers think that insulated glass is soundproof, but it is not. This starts with the characteristics of the noise source.
At present, the main noise sources of street residents are mostly traffic noise. Traffic noise sources include three types:
1.The sound of car tires rubbing against the ground. This sound basically belongs to the bass and is accompanied by vibration. Concrete roads are more severe than asphalt roads.
2.The sound of automobile engines, exhaust pipes, and automotive transmission systems. The higher the horsepower and the longer vehicle life, the stronger the noise in this area.
3.The sound of vehicle vibration caused by the impact of car horns, wind resistance and brakes, deceleration belts and loads.
Instrument testing shows that the sound pressure level of traffic noise is mainly at low and medium frequencies (below 200Hz), which is also the weakness of ordinary insulated glass sound insulation windows.
The structure of insulated glass is easy to form low-frequency resonance with traffic noise, and the sound insulation in the low frequency band is not ideal. According to our tests, the maximum low-frequency sound insulation is only 19db, and the overall sound insulation is less than 30db. If the outdoor noise is above 75db, the indoor acoustic environment can be imagined to be very annoying. Therefore, professional sound-proof glass structure must be used for sound insulation.
